District Attorney

Beth_HeckertBeth Heckert has been the elected District Attorney in Jackson County, Oregon, since 2013. She began her legal career in 1988 as a Deputy District Attorney for Jackson County and was Chief Deputy District Attorney from 2000 until 2013. Ms. Heckert has extensive experience in prosecution of criminal cases.

Beth was born in Brooklyn, New York. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Southern Oregon State College and her law degree from Willamette University. She has made her home in Jackson County since 1982. 

The Mission of the Jackson County District Attorney's Office is to uphold the laws and Constitution of the State of Oregon, and the United States Constitution, to vigorously and impartially prosecute crimes, to  preserve the safety of the public, to protect the rights of crime victims, to hold offenders accountable for criminal conduct and to pursue justice for all with skill, honor and integrity.

Beth has been active in community organizations. 

She currently is a Board Member on the Children’s Advocacy Center, past President of Oregon District Attorney Association and past Chair of the Rogue Valley YMCA.  She is a member of Medford Rogue Rotary.  She is a past Board Member of Southern Oregon Head Start and William V. Deatherage Inn of Court.  She is a member of the Jackson County Public Safety Coordinating Council and Jackson County Bar Association.
