Concealed Handgun Licenses

- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Submit a completed application.
- Be a U.S. citizen or have proof of application with the intent to become a citizen.
- Reside, own property/business or pay taxes in Jackson County.
- Provide documentation that demonstrates that you have taken an approved handgun safety course. See application for approved options.
- Never have been convicted of a disqualifying crime of domestic violence.
- Never have been convicted of a felony.
- Not have been convicted of a misdemeanor in the last four years.
- Not be a registered sex offender.
- Not have been convicted of any crime involving a controlled substance.
- Not have any outstanding warrants for your arrest.
- Not subject to a current stalking order or restraining order.
- Pay appropriate fees. All payments are non-refundable.
- Pass a background check conducted by the Sheriff's Office.

Please arrive to your appointment 10 minutes early at the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, 5179 Crater Lake Highway. Please have all required documents with you.
Concealed Handgun License Application Hours:
Monday - Thursday
9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
(closed for lunch daily, 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Out of State CL Permit

If you are inquiring about an out of state CHL holder, please contact us. In the email you must provide a compelling reason as to why you need an Oregon CHL. Traveling to and from the state for vacation is NOT considered a valid reason. You must live in a contiguous state of Oregon. This email must be submitted and approved prior to applying for a CHL for all out of state applicants.
