Veterans' Advisory Committee
The Veterans' Advisory Committee provides the Board of Commissioners and County Administrator with recommendations and advice on current and future issues which could improve or influence the Veterans Service Office. The group also recommends media and informational strategies to the Veterans' Service Office for dissemination of new and/or altered policies, codes and regulations to veteran organizations, veterans, dependents and survivors as well as to the public.
The Veterans' Advisory Committee provides advice and recommendations on funding and staffing issues of the Veterans' Service Office, which would or could affect the level of service to veterans, their dependents and/or survivors. It also recommends and advises the Veterans' Service Office and Director of Health and Human Services on recognition programs and projects for veterans, dependents and survivors.
The Veterans' Advisory Committee provides advocacy support for veteran, dependent and survivor issues with local, state and federal legislators and/or agencies as requested by the County.
To be eligible to serve on the Veteran's Advisory Committee, one must be a resident of Jackson County, is or has been a U. S. Armed Forces veteran who has served and has been honorably discharged/released from active duty, and should represent local veteran organizations, or any other member that the Board of Commissioners deems appropriate. A DD214 form must be provided with the membership application for proof of honorable discharge. The Social Security number may be blocked out for security purposes.
